Sunday evening, February 14, 2016 we may have witnessed the best NBA All Star Dunk Contest of all time! In my opinion it was at least the best final round and arguably the best ever. Let’s be clear, no one is disclaiming Michael’s acrobatic dunks of the 1988 competition or Vince Carter’s jaw dropping slams during the 2000 contest but Aaron Gordon and Zach LaVine together may have just revived all that we thought was lost in the All Star Dunk Competition.
Yes Zach LaVine walked away with the hardware but Aaron Gordon definitely made a case for himself. The final round seen the two battel back and forth, over time after overtime, 50 after 50 until Aaron Gordon scored a 47 (on a dunk most all of us could only dream about throwing down). Zach LaVine seen that as the opportune time to jump from the free throw line (almost) and throw the ball between his legs before throwing it down for a score of 50 winning back to back Sprite Slam Dunk Contest Titles. Here are some of the highlights from below, and don’t forget to, share your thoughts with The BarberShop.
