LeBron James is yet again gearing up for another shot at the elusive title that has evaded the Cleveland Cavaliers for 44 years; but this time around he has a hungry young Golden State Warriors team that is fixed on making the league’s MVP Stephen Curry a 2015 NBA Champion. Game 1 and Game 2 of the finals have gone exactly how must of us pictured, gritty and down to the wire. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to snag home court from GS in game two but not without a big loss in Game 1; All Star point Guard Kyrie Irving. Now this lost poses the question, “If LeBron somehow leads the Cavs to victory in the finals does this solidify the argument that he could be the best ever?” I myself feel that LeBron James and Michael Jordan are equally great but at the same time LeBron is playing in the NBA Finals without 3 of his teammates that when healthy play at All Star Levels; Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and Anderson Varejao. LeBron’s last year in Cleveland the Cavs won 61 games, the year after the Cavs only won 19 games. After Michael Jordan’s last season before going to play baseball the Bull’s won 57 games, without Jordan the following year the Bulls won 55 games. I say that to show the difference in the talent that was on each roster. Even without Michael Jordan (the best player ever) the Chicago Bulls only won 2 less games; The Cavs on the other hand won 42 less games without a player that some feel as though is blasphemous to mention in the same sentence as the G.O.A.T. To me a basketball player is someone who makes everyone around him better, he raises the level of play no matter what 4 players are on the court with him; and he makes any team he is on a contender. By that definition I feel the best player to ever grace the court is LeBron James, but again both Michael and LeBron are equally great. The Chosen One Vs The G.O.A.T. So is it fair to say that pending LeBron bringing a title to The Rock and Roll Capital of the World, that he can be considered a legit heir to the G.O.A.T or is there still “something” left to prove.
