Morris Wayne Ricks ll or known better by his stage name King Mez, is already a pillar for the hip hop scene and wave coming out of North Carolina; but now he is becoming a staple in the mainstream hip hop community. King Mez is an independent artist and producer but has inked a deal with Warner/Chappell records for publishing. King Mez hooked up with producer Khrysis in 2011 for the mix tape “The King Khrysis.” The track “Something’s Missing” aired on MTV Jams and created a buzz that could not be ignored. The official music video has over 50,000+ views, with that King Mez started generating an online fan base. Mez then linked up with fellow North Carolina native Commissioner Gordon and a host of other artist including an appearance by the whole Lazaretto Crew to bring us 11 raw tracks on the mix tape “The Paraplegics.” King Mez’s debut studio album, “My Everlasting Zeal” which explains the acronym “MEZ” revealed a personal side of the artist his fans had not experienced yet. With tracks like “Reign” that he produced himself; he talks about his mother passing, how he had to be strong for his little brother Mikey, and how his grind for music became even more serious. Mez also has a track on this album produced by a Carolina native who holds the title of one of the best young artist and producers carrying the torch for the new regime of hip hop, RocNation artist J. Cole. Now newly released roughly a week ago, King Mez’s second album titled “Long Live the King” has demanded the ears of hip hop heads around the world. Mez executive produced the album himself alongside Commissioner Gordon. With tracks like “Morris”, “Reggie Miller”, “Never Know”, and many others; this album is complete from top to bottom, from start to finish. Already being mentioned with the likes of J.
